The Horizon EX 59 is one of the best rated elliptical machines within the $500 to $1,000 group. For an average user, there is no a big difference between the riding of the Horizon EX-59 and more expensive machines in the Horizon's EX series, such as EX-69 for instance. A few years ago, the EX-59 has been redesigned and improved in many ways. Actually, it is a brand new product, compared to the old EX-59 model. Some dealers sell the new model under the name EX-59-02 to avoid confusion (you'll also find the same name in many online reviews). Based on extensive biomechanical research the Horizon Fitness has developed the SixStar Certified frame for their new line of elliptical trainers. As they say, it is a unique combination of six key elements designed to deliver the smoothest, most natural elliptical feel.
Horizon EX 59 Elliptical Trainer Review
The new frame supports users up to 275lbs (125kg) and has a stride length of 18" (46cm). It is equipped with an ECB magnetic braking system and 14.3lbs (6.5kg) flywheel. Its 10 levels of digitally controlled resistance provide more than enough choices for any fitness level. He's got a brand new display with Audio-In jacks and MP3/iPod-compatible speakers. The display has one LCD window allowing you to track your time, speed, distance, calories burned, heart rate, watts and program level (10 programs include: manual, weight loss, intervals, constant watts, rolling, reverse train, calorie goal and random). The console is a bit basic which makes it easy to use. Although the console is fairly simple, it has a reading rack and accessories tray (a bottle holder is placed below, as well). The heart rate monitor seems as accurate as the ones on more expensive ellipticals at the gym.
The EX-59 has oversized foot pedals with a low step-on height of 10" (254mm) for easy accessibility and security. I was pleasantly surprised with our test model by how smooth it is and how well it's made. Its durability, quality, and performance was confirmed after only a few spins. It is a sturdy, quiet machine, perfect for home use. Morover, it looks great and modern. For the price it can't be beat!
Horizon Fitness covers the ex-59 cross trainer with the following WARRANTY:
- Frame:Lifetime
- Parts:2 Years
- Brake:2 Years
- Labor:1 Year
The Horizon Fitness EX-59 is considered as the "best buy elliptical trainer" in its respective category. Its direct rival the famous Sole E25, which is the best-selling model ever!
